We'd first like to thank the tremendously gracious audience we had last night.
Well for those of you who somehow didn't make it to New Brookland last night, you
missed a power outage, a double rainbow, a shortened Yukos set, JuiceBoxing, a lot of
nerdy rap, documentary filmings complete with thwarted interviews, release forms, the
cameo appearances of Yukos' piano and JuiceBox's keyboard thing in M.C. Frontalot's set,
a toast to "local baaands!!", and other angsty wailing. Oh, and the first colossal
man-sweat in 13 years. What did YOU do all night?
(Stay tuned for video clips)

A great deal has occurred since halloween. We've done a bunch of awesome shows in Columbia
with a bunch of awesome bands from all over the place. Additionally, we've done a small amount
of recording with some fancy new equipment.
We did a show at the Art Bar following the Singer/Songwriter sessions right after Thanksgiving.
A lot of people showed up, and it was great. We pretty much played our entire catalog that night,
which may have miffed the guy that was coming up to the side of the stage and giving us the throat-
slashing signal towards the end. With the proceeds of that show, we purchased a professional-grade
multi-input soundcard, a mic-preamp, and a bunch of cheap microphones. Very little recording has
ensued mostly because Musician's Friend doesn't know how to ship things properly. What we have
managed to get from it, though, is fairly nice: at least one good demo (Okrakilla) and another
live show (which I will get to in a second).
Two months later, we did another show at the Art Bar. Less people showed up, but the other bands
were marvelous. At that point, Almost Jason had
finally achieved Jason and there was much heralding.
THE lowercase THIEVES were fantastic. You can't not love a band that has a song entitled "Fuck
the Dutch," especially with Yukos the Crude's history with the much-beloved Adult Swim card that read,
"Fuck that Dutch Noise."
One month later, we had a show at New Brookland with SNMNMNM
and The Deceased Lactate
Product Delivery Personnel. These were two really fucking awesome bands, but all in all things
went badly because of poor planning on the venue's part and lack of promotion.
Two weeks later, we had a spectacular show with JuiceBox.
There is no way to describe just how much fun that show was. There was a fucking mosh pit. Holy fuck.
We got some very good recordings of both JuiceBox's and our performances. Ours may be going up on
archive.org soon.
And so, in exactly one week, we will be playing at the Art Bar once again. This time it will be
with The Noise Machine, the aforementioned Almost Jason
(who have yet to change their name to "Finally Jason" or "We Have Achieved Jason"), and
Scary Hand featuring Von Henmon, who was apparently a leader
in the Columbia punk scene in the eighties. It should be a lot of fun (as most shows at the Art Bar
tend to be). Come see it and enjoy.

We've got a
halloween present for you.
Also, we've got a show at the Art Bar in Columbia on November 26th. Yes, we know that's
Thanksgiving weekend, but if you're in town, we'd love to see you at the show. By that point
during Thanksgiving, most people are tired of turkey and being shut in with their family anyway.

In the past month, we have had two awesome shows with some awesome bands.
Last month on September 22, we played at the Art Bar's Katrina victims benefit
with a bunch of very cool bands and artists. The entire benefit raised somewhere
around $1,000, which was donated to the Red Cross.
Last night, we played at New Brookland with Kilcoy and one of the best bands in
Columbia: The Noise. Much, much
fun was had. Much. Many thanks go to The Noise
for singing backup in Sweatpants and Richard Dean Anderson and providing a thunderous
tribal beat during Leo's. Many more thanks go out to Alex Mabrey for recording the
show and John for being a most excellent sound man. And, of course, lots and lots of
thanks go out to everyone who came out to see the hours of debauchery in action.

A lot of crazy stuff has happened since last there was an entry on this blasted
news page. First off, we've acquired a new drummer: Chuck Tomlinson. Chuck has
played with Timmy Orangeburg, Eric Skelton, and other bands that I can't remember.
He is also Codename: Juan.
Additionally, we cannot go on without mentioning that Chuck is the Chuck of
Ground Chuck, which was more of a joke
than an actual band, but it contained Chuck and two of the founding members of Yukos.
Secondly, the website has gone through yet another design change. I
have no clue how it looks on internet explorer. Could someone with a windows computer
email Yukos and let me know how our website looks on IE? Basically,
if there is text being covered up by images, tables, or other text, I want to know about
it.
With this update, the pictures page has been improved and
updated. There are now four new galleries for your perusal. Thanks go out to Sara and
Darrell for quite a few of them.
Additionally, we've played two more shows since the last update. Both were at New
Brookland and both went very well. We had a show lined up for the Art Bar in Columbia
on September 8, but it is being rescheduled on account of Roni Zagoria and the Whole
Lotta Man Band besting us with their innate ability to get gigs. This may be some sort
of Karmic retribution for besting them in the ability to make interesting sampler covers.

Ground Zero went wonderfully. We'd like to thank the crowd for being great and
Pharma Sutra for letting us use their drums and bass rig.
Pharma Sutra, Perish42,
and Jus Caus were all awesome. It was a most excellent evening.
We've made our first batch of the Rock Salt EP/DVD. It was a run of 20, but
we'll make more as needed. Our plans are to eventually have some way to sell it
online, but for now we will be selling them at shows and bringing them by Columbia
area record shops.

We redesigned the site only to find that it looks like ass in Internet Explorer.
Whatever. Get Firefox. IE should be
thrown in the recycle bin, as should the recycle bin.
What's happened since our last update? We've had a show at the now-defunct
Guitar Bar in Spartanburg. Joshua has completed two new videos: Goddamned Moon
and Disclaimer. Tob and Philip have been working on the mix for Closet
Nymphomaniac. Philip has lent his trumpet talent to the band
JuiceBox, of which Alex Mabrey
is (at the time of this post) a member. Alex produced some of our earlier demos
a couple years ago.
We are hoping to make our first release, an EP/DVD multimedia extravaganza
entitled "Rock Salt" in early 2005.

The band has been rehearsing at Tob's house, and said
practices have been very productive. We've even recorded a few more of our
really good songs. Our plans are to put out a combination
EP/DVD spectacular suitable for distribution at shows. One of our finest works so
far for the DVD is the Leo's video. It is a work of art
like no other.
